About the 2018 Exhibition

On Thursday, November 8, at 5:30- 9 p.m. at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center (OACC), the 5th “Calligraphies in Conversation” international  exhibition opened with a public reception. The exhibition is one of the few of its kind exploring connections between calligraphy traditions and practices from different cultures and languages through the world. Ziya Art Center collaborated with OACC, the partner organization, to create bridges between people in San Francisco Bay Area and beyond through this unique, multicultural venue.

Over 70 artworks are on display at OACC submitted from around the world including China, Czech Republic, France, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Pakistan, South Africa, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, UK, and United States. Shirinbab and the curatorial team of the exhibition assembled the collection over many months, in a competitive process through invitations and open call that yielded over 180 submissions.
Acquire the wonderful artworks of our 2018 exhibition from renowned and esteemed calligraphers and artists from around the world.
Sales are available only until January 16, 2018.
